Description
Due to the increased traffic on 19th St, it's become a safety issue to get from Telephone Road to the N I-35 Service Road. Many commuters block intersections and cause traffic to come to a stand-still. The traffic lights haven't been optimized to work together properly. When comparing the traffic lights in Moore to more condensed areas of Oklahoma City, it's easy to see that optimizing the timing of the lights for Telephone Road, Riverwalk Drive, the S I-35 Service Road and the N I-35 Service Road would result in a more efficient system.
If the traffic lights can't be optimized, I would like to see the stop light at Riverwalk Drive be removed entirely. Keep the turn right only lane going into Wal-Mart and create a turn right lane going into Riverwalk drive. This would enable safer travel between the S I-35 Service Road and Telephone Road.

The guy in charge needs to sit at this intersection for about 8 hours on a Friday from 12-8. Maybe his dense head will understand. If I were you I would keep this ticket open until you are satisfied. He will tell you it's being watched and close he ticket because it looks bad on the city to have open tickets, but this site is supposed to bring thes things to light until they are fixed.

Original Poster and Scott (SSPHOTODESIGN -found you on twitter) I also feel your frustration about this area. I called City Hall on Monday and the new control system was out of whack over the weekend or so they say. This morning (Thursday) I did make it all the way from telephone to Broadway without hitting a single red light. SO is seems that it was a little better. We will see!
I really try to avoid the area during the busy parts of the weekend and friday evenings. I guess since we all wanted food places and shopping a lot closer then I-240 and Norman then we have to just slow down a little and be happy that we dont have to drive the extra 5-10 miles and instead have an additional 5-10 minutes of waiting due to the traffic. I doubt Walmart will let them ever close the riverwalk entrance. Maybe we could all go to the same City Council meeting and hear directly from the Mayor or manager. Glad I found this sight.. looks like it can help us make some progress on certain issues!
