Speed and failing to stop at the stop sign on Hope Street is a problem. Walking my children to school, I have almost by hit by cars speeding down the street and hardly pausing at the stop sign when I was already in the crosswalk with my young kids! It is as if the stop sign doesn’t exist and have become a very dangerous intersection to cross. The plans to add an additional crosswalk from the park is only going to be more dangerous. A crossing guard or some other measure needs to be considered to make that area for pedestrians.

I'll be leaving this open till something is done. Now that it's warming up, there will be more people on the sidewalks taking their kids to the daycare at the church. The speeding on this road is insane.

This site is a joke. If any of you come to one of our neighborhood association meetings again you and everyone there will hear about this. A neighbor (who used to work for the city) complained about speeding on Elm Tree Pl...where my house sits on the corner...and in less than 2 weeks a speed checker was placed. I've never seen speeding on our street in the 4 years that I've lived here and it confuses my why a speed checker would be needed but you obviously thought it was important. I guess me not knowing anybody who works for the city makes my complaint irrelevant. Someone even say "hello" to let me know that this was even read. lol

Oh...and the cops were on Union a month ago for a domestic dispute and were yelling at people to slow down so I stepped outside to chat with them about it and they said that there was nothing they can do because of the shortage of cops in Stamford. Mind you there were 5 police officers at this domestic dispute lol. I also told them that I complained about the speeding on this site and they laughed.
