There is a very consistent group of players that uses the sand volleyball court at Oakland Drive Park. This court is preferential to other courts in the area because of its lovely placement east of some trees (which we are so thankful we're trimmed this spring. Thank you!), it's routine raking and care, and the chain link fence that until this summer was partially surrounding the area. It was recently brought to my attention that the type of fence that might be replacing the original is one with a nicer appearance but also would allow volleyballs to pass through. If this is correct information we urge you to consider an alternative. The chainlink fence served a wonderful purpose of keeping balls in the area. Since it has been removed we spend much of our time chasing balls down the hills and it has impacted enjoyment of the court. We understand if the chainlink is not an option because of appearance and in that case would love to see another option that would have small enough spaces to stop a ball. If the fence does not serve this purpose there really is no reason to put one in. It will just become an additional obstacle to go around to retrieve balls.
