We averted a serious accident on this intersection just last week where a car was speeding uphill on 242nd Ave SE going south and a kid was biking on SE 26th Pl going east. It was pretty dark in the evening and had the driver not stopped immediately, the accident would've been fatal. I sincerely urge your team to put a Stop sign going both North and South on 242nd Ave SE at the intersection of SE 26th Pl before we experience a fatality.
I appreciate your time. Thank you!

We conducted a speed study at this location from 9/3/21 - 9/15/21. The data suggests there is no significant issue as the 85th percentile is only 5mph over the limit, while the average vehicle is below the speed limit. From a volume and speed perspective, we do not consider this location one which merits additional speed enforcement.

Thank you again for your request, and we apologize for the delay in response as the city has been short-staffed.
Using speed data, the traffic team needs to see an 85th percentile speed greater than 10mph over the posted speed limit to take mitigation action. Since we do not see that at this location, we will not be installing new signage at this time. However we will continue to monitor this location for speeds in the future.
