Description

Daily, a candidate for the 6th Ward Common Council is setting up what appears to be their campaign office on a public sidewalk in a residential area (488 Madison Ave). There are two large tables, campagne signs and people staffing the tables as well as sitting on the step other building residents are trying to use to get in and out of our apartments. There is no permit visible, but hopefully a permit would not be given for something like this in front of residential homes daily, also blocking at least some of the public sidewalk and making it awkward to get past without engaging, when people may not wish to. How long is this going on?

Can we have a picture please. Everyone has a smartphone to take a picture. My issue is this. First off it’s been way too cold out to set up tables and have them staffed outside. That’s just an opinion. A picture would solidify this complaint.

I have seen and walked by the tables, I don't have a problem with it, everyone is masked and are very polite. There did not seem to be an issue getting around the tables. I have seen people set up other things out there so not sure why anyone has a problem with this.

Seems like a smart, Covid safe way to get the requisite signatures for running for council this year. Easy to avoid, although they’re super pleasant so I’m not sure why you would. They have snacks and they are really good listeners. Engaging with them directly about your concern first would be more neighborly and more likely to answer your concerns.

I live a few doors down and can honestly say their table leaves more space than the permanent barrier around the Lionheart pub, any complaints about that? If this is a tenant who also lives in the building as their comment suggests (not convinced that’s the case), wouldn’t it be more productive to reach out to the landlord or, GASP, just mention the inconvenience to the people at the table? They seem pretty reasonable to me. This complaint seems a little wasteful of city employees’ time, they already have enough to be getting on with.

Seems like it is opposition being a baby. There are plenty of people on here saying they aren’t blocking anything and they are pleasant and following Covid guidelines. I hate that this app can be used for any but (t) hurt baby to complain about anything on here and as was stated already waste the resources of Albany. They are stretched already. So to who ever filed this get over yourself.

What I actually have a problem with is the copious amounts of trash and dog poo that have become uncovered by the melting snow. I will open a new ticket when I have some pretty pictures later.
