Reported multiple times by many people over the last 3 months. Look across the R.R. tracks and see a landslide of garbage flowing down the hill. Or how about the ecological garbage disaster that’s happening at White Slough on Sonoma. Good portion of it has got to be flowing into the bay.

From what I can tell, for the past 10 years the COV has no plan to address the vast homeless encampment problem (What Navigation Center?), and has little to no staff to clean up the trash all over this city. It is everywhere, as well as abandoned vehicles, trailers, boats, etc. I sometimes wonder if out-of-towners know that Vallejo is where you go to dump your trash for free?

I guess we have to keep reporting this issue until it is finally taken care of. It is really disappointing to see how bad it is getting and how little response we are getting from the city.

SUMMARY OF THE CODE ENFORCEMENT PROCESS
After a violation is reported, a code enforcement officer is assigned to conduct an inspection, make a determination as to whether the report is valid or unfounded, open up a case and issue warnings and notices when valid and allow approximately 30 days for correction. If the property is still found to be non-compliant following the time allotted for correction and a second inspection, the code enforcement officer will continue with enforcement, which could include the issuance of a notice of violation or administrative citation. If a property owner continues to remain non-compliant, the Code Enforcement Officer can determine whether or not to move forward with obtaining a warrant to have contractors abate (fix) the violations on the property. While the enforcement process moves forward, simultaneously on the financial side, the property is liened for any nonpayment after 30 days, late fees are imposed on unpaid citations, and any unpaid fines are then assessed onto the owner’s property taxes as a special assessment.

From reading the above rules, it appears it could take a couple of months before a city clean up would ensue. I guess that's why it looks like nothing is happening. However, I have seen some Clickfix reported problems go unabated for much longer than 30 or 60 days. Try six months to a year, and the reported offender is still languishing on city streets. There seems to be a breakdown in the city process.

There is no reason for the citizens of Vallejo have to put up with this trash. We shouldn't have to wait for months. Unacceptable Period.

Is it possible to clean up the problem? Seems to be more of a discussion here than a solution. I wonder if the responders live in Vallejo since no one seems involved in fixing it

If the property owner ignores all notices/citations, then the code officer would possibly look into applying for a warrant to abate/fix the issues on the property. This entire process does take some time though since it is private property, so we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thanks for explaining. How can we as neighbors hold the owner responsible? I do know that every person affected by this blight has a right to sue in small claims court for maybe $5000 each. Anyone else interested?
