I live in midtown Kingston and does anyone ever stop "completely" at a stop sign anymore? I have small children and i can't let them play in this neighborhood in fear that some idiot (young or old) will just roll right thru the stop signs on any of these streets and not see my children playing! Can the police please start enforcing this law or can the city please invest in speedbumps or stoplights. COME TO A FULL STOP PEOPLE...DIDN'T YOU LEARN THAT DURING YOUR ROAD TEST!?

So what's the status here?
I certainly can relate - I won't let my kids play on the street side of the house, but why do we always rely on government to fix all our problems? Hello people - we need smaller government for less taxes. The idea of stationing a cop to enforce stop signs sound like a real waste of tax dollars. Perhaps they can drive through more often and watch for problems (cruising the city IS worthwhile in my book), but consistent police present at a stop sign? simply doesn't sound like a good solution.
Let's figure out strategies to encourage compliance - stop sign cameras? Taking video? When I'm walking my neighborhood in uptown, I certainly will step out into the street to get the attention of drivers who are being stupid. And I do report licence plates. But those aren't perfect solutions either. Better placed stop signs could help.
Let's figure out solutions.
