Deskripsyon
On Saturday morning, a truck of men pulled up and began pulling out and tearing out the inside of the apartment behind Dragon City. This work continued well into Saturday and Sunday. It seems new drywall has been put up and a family is already occupying the premises. The people who used to occupy and run Dragon City vacated very quickly. Debris were left all over the road.

Is the Chinese takeout place in the front of the building no longer in business?
There are plans in motion to construct two new houses on the lots next to Dragon City. I would like nothing more than to see that place disappear. It has been a source of drug dealing in the past and is still a constant source of trash dropped by people walking to and from there and the subsidized housing between 5th and 3rd

Yes EWB, I am speaking of Dragon City. The stuff I saw go down there on Friday and Saturday were definitely shady. I'm not sure if they will be re-opening or if a family is living there now and it will no longer be what it previously was. In the evenings I have certainly witnessed fights and what appeared to be less than legal activity. However, this is just perception and I have no hard evidence to back it up.
Still, I'm not sure what is happening with the establishment and I'd like to find out as a concerned resident.

It looks like it's been renovated on the inside and it's reopened. It looks slightly nicer than it did before.
They are still using a broken garbage can in front that is tied to the stop sign. That is going to make trash for our entire street.

Dragon City is back up and operating under the name "New Dragon City"
I'm not even sure if this business is legitimate or registered with Philadelphia etc.
The customers who continue to cause disturbances and leave trash are back at all hours of the night.

I'm almost positive the business is legit. We tried a while back to get them shut down and there was nothing L&I could grab onto.
A health violation might work, though. The kitchen may be up to code, but it's probably a safebet that there are health code violations.
311 can register a complaint with the Health Dept.

At the very least it looks a little better up front. The rest of the building is still a dump, though.
Would love to see that place go.

I'm closing this issue on account of getting one snarky remark and only involvement from one other concerned citizen. As long as there is zero accountability in South Philadelphia, things like this will continue to occur and the neighborhood will always look like a dump.
It's nice to see at least one other person using this website in a serious fashion. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.
